Instruments
Hm, interesting to find so many jack-of-all-instruments here... I play few instruments, compared to some people here, but the time i devote to each one makes it all work out, lol. Piano is my main instrument, been playing that for years. I play Bari Sax for band, and im in our all-state marching ban...

Thanks for your input! I decided to purchase (or try to) a not-very-expensive Pearl. If that doesn't work out, I'm going to compare some Armstrong flutes to Yamahas. One of my band instructor's best friends is a Yamaha-sponsered performer, tho not on flute. I wonder if I can get a deal thru him...? ...

Weimar Band Flute... huh?
I saw a great deal on a Weimar flute, and the seller had a very good reputation. There were tons of pictures of the flute, and it looks great, but there's only one problem. I've never heard of Weimar flutes before. And neither has my band instructor. Or my flute-playing piano teacher. Is Weimar wort...

preferred flute
I prefer a Pearl, because of high-quality tone in higher notes. Closed holed, because I'm not good enough to play open-hole, and i think my flute is a nickel-aluminum alloy... lol, no precious metals at all.

tull music
now that i have the hang of fast fingerings sorta down on flute, i can play (the flute part to) many Tull songs, like Play in Time, Cross Eyed Mary, Thick as a Brick, and the "cocktail-lounge jazz" version of Bouree.

Jethro Tull
Has anyone heard the amazing flute-playing lead singer of Jethro Tull? Ian Anderson composed most of Jethro Tull's work, and plays the flute himself. He really jams on-stage, and has gotten positive comments by such flutists as Galway and Jeffrey Khaner (of the Philadephia Orchestra). I am a devout ...

my main instrument is bari sax, and i can say that if a sax section knows that what they do pisses ppl off, they will probably continue it, instead of stopping. In fact, if you go up and ask them to stop, theyll prolly just laugh at you, then keep on doing it. just dont worry about it, and it wont b...

improving pitch and tone on high/low notes
I play a few wind instruments, flute included. one of the things i did first when i started on flute was improve my high notes. i did this by playing say, the D above the clef as a really long note, then varying the volume. i played the note, then got louder (slowly) till i was playing ff, then i qu...
