Question About Freiburg Hochschule fur Musik

Does anyone know who the flute teacher is at the Freiburg Hochschule fur Musik, or can anyone give me any additional information about him/her?

Thank you!

You don't necessarily need to know any "tunes" before you start learning... start out with a beginner's book. It will help a LOT. I recommend the Trevor Wye books. Here's the URL for the first book (there are two of them) through amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0853602298/qid=...

http://www.fluteworld.com

Go to "instruments". Go to "flutes." Go to "yamaha." The YFL-221 is listed first.

Something also might be a tiny bit off with your cork... my little sister attacked my flute a few years ago () and twisted the cork around to a position it shouldn't have been in. After that, my low register felt really screwed up, but i finally figured it out and fixed it and it was fine aga...

I've had several friends who are great flute players and they had to get braces on then off again and they were really worried that all the changes would mess up their embouchures... but according to them it only took them each about a week's worth of time to readjust. One girl I know even started ...

Keep the thumb on your right hand really far back closer to the back side of the flute instead of directly on the bottom.. this will make it easier to keep the fingers on your right hand more curved and will seriously diminish the chances of health problems. also this is kind of random, but do any o...

One other thing.. inflating your lungs doesn't mean taking huge obnoxious breaths in; it just means quickly filling up with air. You should *feel* this action in your diaphragm but you should not change your diaphragm.. it should *always always always* be strong. what changes is how much air you phy...

Especially as a beginning flute player, you *always* want to keep your diaphragm strong! This is called "supporting." Support and think about inflating you lungs (and not your diaphragm) when you take in air.

hope this helps!

Martinu's First Sonata-- help please

Is the eighth note in the first mvmt. of Martinu's First Sonata supposed to *stay* at 200 on the metronome? I've practiced it this way with metronome many times and while it feels comfortable at the beginning, it feels like it would have more momentum if it went faster towards the end. I have not h...

The taking-one-out-at-atime-and-getting-used-to-it suggestion is the best. The 1st one you should take out should be the one for your index finger on your right hand. The 2nd one should be the middle finger on your left hand. The 3rd should be your middle finger on your right hand. The 4th should b...

I *also* play at yamaha 62. I started out on the school's piccolo... it was a gemeinhardt and good to start out on, (unfortunately it was badly in need of repair...) anyways, i got the yamaha about 6 mos. after using the gemeinhardt. it was kind of expensive, but DEFINITELY worth it. also, i recomm...
