Forum for sharing recordings?

Post by Chris Carr »

Aloha,

What would be the appropriate sub-forum for members to share and discuss their recorded music? I know at one point we had a number of members who were playing at least in a semi-professional capacity, and it would be great to hear what everyone is doing. Do we need a new sub-forum?

Cheers!

Fluteland Forum does not support uploading audio files, but I know at least some others have shared links to their recordings on Soundcloud and other websites. I think most of those have been in the General Hang-out Place. That might be a reasonable option to consider. I'll ask the other moderators to think about your request and if most agree, ask the administrator if he would consider a new recording sub-forum category.

MrHarryReems,

Its a desirable idea
It will take some time to find out though - we have to contact Admin (may have been asked already)
Who will discuss with their IT - then add the forum space and test it
Putting attachments on a forum is risky business - in case of hidden malware, but other phpBB forums do it successfully, so there is hope

Ok to call you Harry?

Anthony

You can call me whatever you like, my name is actually Chris.. The 12 year old in me used that name on a forum years ago and it kind of stuck. I was considering asking the mods to change it. :)

My thoughts were that we wouldn't actually upload attachments, just post links. That way the forum stays safe and doesn't have to worry about hosting files. I believe there may even be a mechanism available to embed youtube vids.
