Was a bit rich... but I wanted Syrinx as well, and some of the other pieces have been fun also.
Muramatsu really does play it best, doesn't he? Maybe one day... (One can dream )

Yip! I'm sure you can too...Good on you to support the composer Muramatsu, I will eventually buy the score when I find it by itself. Believe that good composers must be supported. I've just resolved to learn it again. Thk gdness it isnt too long.
I've just discovered another one that totally missed my radar, Gary Shocker's"Regrets and Resolution" The first (>) half is quite easy. Do not have the long tones of Earth but beautifully lyrical and our smae friend playing it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QQGNrEYBuo
The good news is that this piece is available for much less and is harder to transcribe.
What other songs are good in the Rakuten book? It's still sitting in my shopping cart awaiting payment whilst I stew over whether to get or not. I already have double original copies of syrinx - which I had purchased much earlier.(one damaged during delivery the other a conciliatory replacement)

My teacher has me playing around with "Sicilienne" currently. Nice, but not quite in the same league. "Gabriel's Oboe" looks like being a good one, though I haven't started on it yet. Looking forward to that, however. (easy, perhaps, but room for lots of expression). And there is one of the ones with a japanese title that I have heard and want to learn also... And thanks for the heads up on the Gary Schocker piece... I had a listen and bought the music by the time the piece had finished. Very nice indeed.

I can only find on sheetmusicplus with 1-3wks waiting time. Is there an electronic version? Thanks for the heads up on Regrets and Resolutions. Ordered it as well as Winter Jasmine (also by Gary Shocker) yesterday, and got the music today (the advantage to living in the same state as Carolyn Nussbaum Music Company). Can't wait to start working on it.
It's been almost a year since I got Earth, and I still am glad I spent the money for the book to get that music. If you could find multiple people who wanted to order Earth, you could drastically cut the per book shipping charge down to a more reasonable level by placing one group order. I also don't know if shipping to Oz from Japan might be cheaper.

That's great Linda! Evrmre was very prompt in ordering both, I am going to wing Earth but placed an order for R&R through my usual http://www.sheetmusicplus.com AFTER WHICH I discovered Gary Schocker actually has the entire orchestral version of the score viewable from his website!!!! Helps assuage the waiting time! Am tooting away. Thank God for Masahide's rendition on YouTube, he brings it to a whole nuther level! I should really convert the flab into the six packs all of which I'm sure Kurita used to produce those amAzing colors and tones. Still can't get enough of it.

Since this collection is published by yamaha music media, has anyone considered contacting yamaha directly? I'm going to go ahead and do it and tell you my results.

Hi evrmre! No word yet...but to be fair, I haven't been paying attention lately. He's on facebook and and is an extremely helpful communicative guy. Go look him up. He's got this Trio going that does local and international circuit called Ensemble 3. The lady who plays the piano is on board with a cellist/or bass called Jamie. Check it out.
I'm biased, so I'd say yes, but it really depends on how many of the pieces you already have music for, and what sort of stuff you're wanting. So far, I've picked up four of the pieces that I didn't know previously, and am still looking at a few more.
