Hi all.
Tonight was the Civic Band's first rehearsal for the season. One of our "new" songs is Frank Erickson's Toccata for Band. I played this back in high school. Now, grant that it was 30 years ago, so my memory might be fuzzy about this. But I would swear I played picc on the two Allegro sections, and switched to flute on the two Andante sections. My director double-checked his score and there's no picc listed.
Does anyone know if there is a version of this song with a picc part? Or is my memory just blurring as I age (well, I'm sure it is , but is it with this specific memory?)

Re: Toccata for Band
Here is the entry for Toccata For Band at the Worldcat website. It lists one flute but no piccolo.

Re: Toccata for Band
Thanks, pied.
I checked Pepper's site. They carry the piece (including buying sep parts!), but for some reason don't have their usual image of the parts listing. So I called them. Wonderfully nice man tried to find out but had no detailed info on instrumentation. He's going to check with the publisher tom.
I'm beginning to think it is my memory being fuzzy.

Re: Toccata for Band
And the official answer from the publisher itself--
no picc part.
So obviously my memory got fuzzy about playing the piece in hs.
Btb, big shout-out to J. W. Pepper's customer service! Rather than blowing me off as not worth their effort, they spent their time researching this for me, probably not even expecting the $5 sale for the single part. Which of course they didn't get since there's no picc part to buy. What great service!
