Need Suggestions for Slow Flute and Piano Duets!

Post by JasonTongRulz »

My friend and I are playing in a Concert soon and we haven't decided what songs we will play. But we definitely are decided that we like slow.

I've considered playing Aaron Copland's Duo for Flute and Piano movement 1 but I have been unable to find sheet music for it for now, forcing me to find alternatives.

I have also considered Saint Saen's "The Swan" as another possibility.

Are there any other sweet sounding, slow and mellow Flute and Piano Duets you like and will recommend? Or any that you can send me the sheet music for?

Thank you very much in advance!~

I think you should try the Andante by Mozart. Really beautiful peace although it's a piano reduction from the original for orchestra accompaniment.

Meditation from Thais (a beautiful transcription for violin).

What is your level of playing? This is important in considering a piece because a piece being slow does NOT indicate that it's easy! If you haven't done grade exams of anything, maybe list a coupe of pieces you've played lately? That way we can make suggestions that suit you a bit better. =]

I'm assuming Zevang means Mozart's Andante in C? This would probably be a good one actually. But, if you haven't already, get a teacher. Mozart needs to be played expertly in order to be played well! =]

I'm an Intermediate player but I play mostly for fun. I really enjoy playing Bach' Badinerie!

I'm deciding to perform Slow pieces because it suits the theme/mood of the Concert best!

Well then as an intermediate I guess the Mozart Andante in C would be great! Glad that you like it. But like I say… it would be really good to have someone teach you. Or at least listen to great recordings and try to emulate them. I LOVE Sharon Bezaly. Unfortunately, if Emmanuel Pahud did one, I haven't found it yet.

Yes indeed I meant. Also, I agree completely about getting a teacher in order to play better.

Another nice work that you could consider is the Aria from John Rutter's Suite Antique.

Oops sorry, I actually do have a Teacher, but we only do exams once every few months so I haven't yet done my exam! I'm hoping to jump to 4th or 5th Grade!

well great! so your teacher can get you all ready for the performance :D and yeah, as an AMEB teacher myself, I would put you at intermediate level if you are doing 5th grade.
