Hello everybody,

I am looking for music with a birds theme for my Capstone recital to finish college.

I have my flute music mostly picked out.

I got a new piccolo and I would like to play a piccolo piece or two.

Thanks for your suggestions and help

Lana

You might find one of these of interest...

TWEET! for solo piccolo by Daniel Dorff

A few months back this piece was mentioned on the Krantz Flute List:
"At 4 1/2 minutes, TWEET! begins with a full quarter note melody with flourishing grace notes that contrasts with an ascending sixteenth note sotto voice secondary theme. Then the middle section contrasts a "secretly tiptoeing" staccato melody with interjecting forte descending runs. It also contains a jazzy interlude. This is the perfect bird-inspired solo for the times you need a short, contrasting piccolo selection for a flute recital."

Outside my Window, Bird: For Piccolo and Piano by Gary Schocker

Genre: Jazz & Blues

"The prolific Gary Schocker delights once again with this new work for piccolo and piano. "Outside My Window, BIRD" is a charming musical sketch inspired by the composer's cat's obsession with pigeons outside his apartment window"

Wow. I like "Tweet".

I wonder what the Gary Shocker piece is like? I am already planning on playing "Flitter and Flit". Maybe I should look for something by another composer.
