Which flute should I use for my recital?

Post by flutekay »

I am going to be in recital for the first time since 2007 this year. I take private lessons.

I have two flutes to choose from to play either an all sterling silver Jupiter di Medici 1011 artist with Sankyo headjoint that is nine years old and reserved for special occasions, or a brand new Di Zhao 400 which has a sterling silver headjoint. I want to play a colorful sounding instrument. Which do you recommend?
I want to play an instrument that sound good in the upper, middle and lower registers. I want to hear what others have to say about these two instruments who know what they sound like in different registers.I will be playing Bergamask by Koepke and Siciliana and Giga by G.F.Handel.

Thanks,
K. Martin

I don't have any significant experience with either of those particular flutes, but in general, you should choose the one that sounds best to you and that you feel most comfortable playing. No one can tell you which of those is best for YOU.
