Bottom joint!!!

My bottom joint is loose and keeps falling off. How can I fix it? I'm in marching band so every time they say "band horns up" you have to bring up your flute in one sharp move. Every time I do the bottom joint will either slip a little or fall of completely. Obviously this causes many other problems, so if you could answer ASAP that would be great. Thanks!!

In an emergency, you can cut a small 1/4" strip of thin paper and insert it between the foot and body as you assemble the flute. That will temporarily make it tighter. If it's still too loose, use two strips of paper or try a slightly wider piece of paper.

The permanent fix is to take it to a repair shop. A repair technician has the proper tools to easily expand and tighten the joint so that it fits properly and won't fall off.

It definetly needs looking at. PP's post is spot on, a bit of paper sandwiched in will get you out of trouble until you next get it serviced.

Do you use grease when you assemble the joints, if you do then you should stop.

Teflon tape (plumber’s threading tape) works well, non marking leaves zero residue. Great temporary fix.
