Hi. I just started playing classical flute,(2nd lesson today)and just heard the mention of flute sleeves. Was thinking, since I have a small Pomeranian, it may good to have a sleeve over my flute while on the stand during practices. That way if she decides to sniff it, or happens to brush against it, I won't end up with dog hair on, or in my flute.
Has anyone here made them before?
If so, what is the best material to use, and is it hard to find the anti-tarnish(spray?) for the lining?
Any ideas on this would be welcome.
Thank you,
Natalie

Re: Homemade flute sleeves
Flute stands are OK to use for very brief breaks in your practice but it's not a good idea to leave your flute on a stand when you are finished practicing. Leaving them out makes them subject to more rapid tarnishing and leaves them vulnerable to accidental damage. This is especially true when pets are in the home. When you are finished playing, put the flute back in it's case. I've seen too many flutes damaged because they were left on a stand - covered or not...

Yes, I agree, and do not intend to leave my flute on the stand other than during my practice session, while I am looking at music, things like that. I just want to cover my flute during my music practice, while it is on the stand.
Actually, I did find a simple, anti-tarnish flute sleeve made by a woman on Etsy that I just got, and will be perfect for my practice times
Thank you,
