Flute aids

Post by sinebar »

Well I'm looking for something that will fit on my flute making it easier to hold while fingering C2 third space on the staff. The flute wants to slip while fingering this note as most here probably know.

there are several solutions to this problem. Most of the time it can be solved by putting a postage stamp where hold the flute. I personally like using a thumbport to prevent my flute from moving around [but it was rather pricey for something that is about the size ofa quarter]. You can also add things like bopep clip ons and dr.Schols stuff.... http:/www.larrykrantz.com has a lot of helpful hints on there in relation to making a flute more comfortable to hold.

Wait, how long have you been playing to flute?

when I first started to play the flute, I had trouble holding the flute for C2, and then later on, I found some kind of balance that helped me hold the flute.

If you reall can't hold it, get Bopep clips, they'll help.

I've only been playing for about 2 or 3 weeks.

ah, okay. Yeah, it should improve with time and practice [ flutes can sometimes be a beast to hold especially when you are first beginning]. But if the problem doesnt get any better, definately take a look at the link I put on here. Bopeps are good, but I have heard that because they are hard plastic they scratch your instrument. The link I gave you has many instrument friendly alternatives that work just as well.

There is a really good video on holding the flute properly on the main Fluteland website (www.fluteland.com). Click on "online flute lessons" -- on the page that pops up, choose "instructional video lessons" -- then choose #6 (the free lesson under "basic flute lessons") called Holding the Flute.

If you've only been playing a few weeks, you might want to view this and double check that you understand how the flute stays balanced when held properly.

Good luck!
