Do any of you have recommendations for good
books on music theory for the those of us teaching ourselves? Not the classroom
texts that suppliment teachers but self guided texts. An example of great self
teach books from the world of guitar is the "Skeptical Guitarist" series. I wish
they had something like that for flute!! Do any of you know anything about
Miller''s "The complete idiots guide to music theory". I felt this title
really spoke to me![]

This site is belongs to Jen Cluff.
http://www3.telus.net/Garry_McKevitt/ About 1/4 way down the page she has
recommendations for beginner teaching themselves. She also keeps some fantastic
files on Flutenet. You have to join to be able to read most of them but it well
worth joining. I have learned tons from her articles !! Kim

book on Celtic music and also the music theory book by Miller- When I have a
chance to read it I will review it here- it will be from the perspective of a
total novice. Thanks johnbegud for the additional info it is also an excellent
site.
