Greetings all,
I've been studying the flute for about 3 years and I still can't play high F# and G#. I can only play them if I slur to them. If I try to start a high F#, I get the B below or just fuzzy air. I can hit them only about 20% of the time. High E is easy for me because my flute has a split-E mechanism. Does anyone have any special exercises or tips/tricks for this problem? Thanks!

Re: Difficulty playing high F# and G#
Those are difficult notes on the flute for many players. Basically, you need to work on developing your embouchure by just practicing and experimenting to find the proper lip placement and air speed to make those notes easier to achieve. Read this link, especially the part about the high notes like E and F#. http://www.jennifercluff.com/tone2.htm#develop
"Never give a flute player a screwdriver."
