Piccolo auditions at school! Heeeelp!

I'm auditioning for a piccolo part at school, they give us a week to learn to play it. Do any experianced players have any advice bc. I'm kind of teaching myself lol. Anything I need to know?

I just started piccolo too. It's not that hard to play after a few days of hard practice. Just support heavily with your diaphragm (spelling??) and don't overblow. I don't know what else to say, it came pretty naturally to me.... (unlike the flute.... four years of practice and my tone still is horrible half the time..)

look at yourself in a mirror when you play to make sure because the hole is so small, you need a good embrouchure

By the way, what type of Picc did they let you try out on??

the piccolo isn't that much different from the flute, all you need to do is blow faster air and have a more focused or smaller apeture (sp?).

thanks I read your advice and followed it but a Senior ended up getting the part... oh well... maybe the oppertunity will come around next year.
