I hate my third octave f# (g# is a close second lol) - my favourite note is middle a or b. Is it me or is this just one of those things with a flute. I really don’t like the sound very much, working to improve obvs .
Does everybody else have favourite and least favourite notes??

Re: F#
If you start thinking about having problems with certain notes, it tends to be a self-fulfilling prophesy. To make good progress, you need to make EVERY note your favorite. Yes, certain notes may require more attention and more practice to perfect them, but try to make even more difficult notes sound as good as the easy ones.

Re: F#
Yes I think we are on the same page Piper! That is the point - I play my favourite note and the aim is to get every note to sound that good.....the “favourite” is what I use for comparison. So really I suppose my question should have been.....is 3rd oct f# generally horrible to master or is it just me????

Re: F#
Yes, 3rd octave F# is one of those notes that needs a bit more attention. It tends not to speak as easily as 3rd octave F or G. Just put in your ear plugs and play long tones using that F#. Play F-F#, F#-G, G-F#, F#-F, etc. Hold each note for maybe 4 counts. As you play each, strive to make them all have the same quality of sound. You'll probably crack some of those F#s as you go back and forth, but keep at it, they'll improve.
