Hi ya Everyone! I'm Jamie and I'm in the 9th grade. We just got a draft of the opening of our march and I'm haveing problems with some of the stuff. So all the help I can get would be great!
My first problem is that at the begining we have to play in triplets high F to high E natural to high F repeatadly. Is there any shortcut to this?? Is there anyway I can master this?? Is the only key long hours of practice...??
My Other problem was we have to trill from high C to high D. My fingers are having problems with that too. Is there an easier way to play these?
Like I said before any help anyone can give me will help greatly! And I will love you all ForEVER!

The first problem (triplets e-f-e) can be solved with trill fingerings or harmonics, but you should try to avoid using these techniques if at all possible. Depending on the speed of the passage, it can be terribly obvious that you are not using "real" fingerings, and these will compromise either tone or intonation. For the trill fingering, finger High E, and lift LH2 to play high F. For harmonics, I suggest fingering A2 for E and Bb2 for F, though there are numerous possiblities, and you can experiment to see what works best for you. For the trill from C to D, simply trill the second trill key (preferably with RH3, though the same effect can be accomplished with RH2).
