i have a question about some of the scales. do flutes
usually play any of the e,f,&g scales(minor & major) 3oct.? I''m sure
beginners & many intermidiate players dont & arent expected to, but what about
advanced and professional? I''m a high scool student but i would like to learn
them as high as they will go (i have a fingering chart with these top fingerings
but i have not been able to get from d# to g.but practice & they will eventually
come right?)Thanks![::)]

Going to the top D is about as far as
anyone will go; unless of course you want to get into some zany extended
technique, 20th, 21st century type stuff. Practicing those high notes can be
damaging to the embouchure. Personally, I wouldn't do the scales 3 octaves. The
only scales I practice 3 octaves is C, B, Db, and D.

As far as I am concerned anything above C4
is Picollo territory! [;)] [:p] [;)] And I am glad of it![:bigsmile:]

I only play up to D in 3 octaves too,
mainly cause I haven't been able to get other notes above it, hehe, in my usual
practice I only go up to 3 octaves of C but sometimes I go to C# and D, just
depends really, but I know a site with a fingering chart of these notes and
higher ones: http://www.larrykrantz.com/fingers.htm this chart shows up to F#4,
