Beginner/Late Beginner flute students

Post by laflutechantante »

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site, and I was wondering if I could get some
feedback on the best and most effective repertoire/technique books
for young flutists (0-2 years experience; 5th-7th grade). I'm a
sophomore in high school, a very serious flute student, and quite
recently i've taken on two young students of my own: a 1st year and a
2nd year student.
Does anyone know of a technique book that works really well for this
experience level, and the books of repertoire these kids should be
playing-- at their age and experience??

Right now with my 1st year student I have her working through
the "Accent on Achievemant band method book" and we just began a
piece in the "40 Little Pieces" book. Is this the right way to go??

Thank you so much in advance!! I'm new at teaching, and I want to
make sure I make the right decisions for my students so that they can
improve effectively and quickly while learning to love music at the
same time.
Thanks!

Caroline

Oh shoot, what were the books I used to begin? I believe it was called Breeze Easy. They were very helpful and easy to use. Then I started using a different brand that was also nice, but I can't recall what they were. Next time I remember I'll try to find the books.
