I haven't been able to play flute for a good month or so due to a tonsillectomy I had, and therefore my tone has naturally faltered and that break really killed my sound.
As a nice Christmas gift, I got a nice 1952 Haynes flute. It finally arrived today and I tried it out - it sounded terrible, difficult to blow and produce a continuous, strong sound. Is this likely because of my extended break from playing, or did I just happen to buy a poor Haynes? I really hope it is not the latter. What do you guys think? Also, should I take it in to get it inspected/get an estimate on it?
Is it the flute, or is it just me?

You are probably having issues with getting use to the headjoint. Just keep playing on it. You will eventually get use to it.nmglover wrote:I haven't been able to play flute for a good month or so due to a tonsillectomy I had, and therefore my tone has naturally faltered and that break really killed my sound.
