tuning help for ensemble/section
Could any one point me in the direction of some good group exercises to help with ensemble/section tuning? Thanks.
Ensemble tuning
Hi,
In our ensemble we spend 5-10 minutes creating chords with the group. Letting the first couple get say a good D, then adding F-sharp, then A, and then high D so everyone can hear the intervals and tune them...normally have to sharpen the 3rds and flatten the octaves.
Then once in tune try bringing everyone down a semitone then back up then up another semitone to move the ensemble together while staying in tune.
Alternatively we have played some pieces with lots og long chords to let everyone have time to hear the tuning.
