High Notes Help

Post by flutepower »

Hey,
I am having trouble making the high notes on my flute, like the note
high G and E. I know that you are to make your air more direct into the flute, but I am still having some trouble. I can play it now and then, but
then I mix up. Any advice?

Practice makes perfect,

One good exercise i always do to warm up is a high D all the way to high Eb,

Start with high D totally relaxed and lazy, with no tongue. Just real lazy exhale of air, lips also relaxed.

Then high D, but tongue it. Once your more experienced and practiced you could practice varying vibrado on all the high notes.

This is an excellent exercise, u will seldom go higher than high C, but i still like to practice till at least high Eb.

if you do this for 6 months, i can almost guarantee u wont have a problem with any of those notes.

PS play ur scales, once confident, all the way to high Eb.

Good luck!!!

Here is another exercise for u, perfect fifths are great for finger and tone.

Second, remember all those notes from B to low B should be played with as much quality and depth as higher notes. Practice pushing everyone of those notes to the medium where they want to break to the octave above. This is especially important for low D down to low B. These are extremely weak notes on many players, even experienced. With practice in this area u will see will see ur abilities and music blossom.

Last one, try playing all notes as soft as possible but still maintaining sound. This is very soft and air must be very focused. Once u have mastered this try varying ur vibrato, but remember maintain the sound. U can barely hear the note, this will help tons with music architecture and will enhance your overall abilities and ur range in a given note.

Good luck!!!
