"The Other Flute"

Post by Bo »

Does anyone here have "The Other Flute" by Robert Dick?
Would you recommend it? I have heard it is very good. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available in Australia and it will probably cost (almost) as much as the book itself to order it from overseas....
Is there also a pdf file? I would prefer to have the real book though...

Thanks,
Bo

I don't own it, but my teachers do. They recommend it whole heartedly. So if extended techniques are what you are seriously interested in, I would definitely invest in buying it.

I have found it in the catalogue of a shop in Sydney and I have just sent them an email...
Interestingly, its price is in the "normal" range on the author's website, but it is exorbitant on eBay... How come?

Well, I got it from the library, but it is the 1st edition (1975) instead of the 2nd (1989) I had ordered. Because it was the library's mistake, they are going to get the 2nd edition too, but in the meantime they said I can have this one.
Does anybody know if the differences between the two editions are remarkable?

Thanks,
Bo

It is an excellent book, but (of course) you need an open-hole flute in order to perform those advanced techniques...

Does anybody know anything about this other book?
