Bass embouchure problem
Hello everyone. I recently began playing the bass flute again. I am using a DC Pro ( which is not a very well made flute IMO ). I am having an awful time getting the notes to sound especially if I have to use any of my right hand keys. I am practicing about 60 minutes a day. To make matters worse, yesterday when I picked up my regular flute that I've been playing for years and years I had the hardest time getting notes out of it! I lost my embouchure. I've played good quality bass flutes and not had either of these problems. Anyone have any advice? I'm stuck with this poor quality bass for awhile, need to play it, and need to play my flute too. What can I do ?

Sounds like the problem is not your embouchure but what you are making yourself adjust to due to a poorly constructed flute. Leaks (even minor ones) can cause a lot of problems. Not to mention a poorly cut headjoint. These problems can easily effect your flute playing across the board. My honest opinion, lay off the bass until you can get a good quality one. You may be doing more harm that you realize.

Bass embouchure problem
thanks for your reply and input. I really appreciate it. I am renting this flute and have a 6 month contract. I've already contacted the company once to tell them the foot joint won't attach. The guy told me that it's brand new and it was tested. I wonder how much it was tested. The last thing I want to do is break it by forcing it together. Playing it has not gotten better yet. I need to contact him again tomorrow and see what can be worked out. I'm afraid I may have gotten myself in a contractual mess. If so it is a bitter lesson for me. I've read 1 message on this site concerning the DC Pro brand with an alto and it was a negative opinion. I may be adding the bass to that short list. Thanks again
