Tone and Dry/Cracked Lips

Post by JasonTongRulz »

I've noticed whenever I pick at my lips my tone goes bad for a day or two... Is this a coincidence or is it because I peel off some of the dry skin? If so, how can I stop myself from picking at my lips?

Please share your dry lip stories and advice!

Also, if this helps, I have a teardrop lip but use the "standard generic" embouchure and it actually still works for me. I produce clear tone and nice vibrato.. (my only dissatisfaction is in my Tonguing - it can be too loud)

Thanks very much in advance!

I swear by Burt's Bees Super Shine lip gloss. It does an amazing job moisturizing, is super shiny, and comes in a bunch of colors.

I live in a city where we have only two seasons. Wet and dry. We have rain for almost 7 months a year. On the other hand, we have dry climate for about 5 months, without any rain! At this stage of the year, we have what we call "desert weather", because it's pretty hot during the day and cold at night, the difference between max and min temperature reaching 20 degrees celsius in some days.

Well, what I really want to share is that it doesn't matter if I use any kind of lipstick or protection, the main remedy is always drink lots of water (small steps at a time...) during all day long. That's what prevents from dry and injured lips. Our tone IS affected by the condition of the lips and the weather, mostly if we stay for a long time under direct sun light. So in this case, a good solar filter is mandatory. But as I said, nothing like good hydrating.

I would go with Missy. Lip balm is usually very good for such purposes.

i don't know where you live but i absolutely swear by lucas's paw paw ointment. i don't know where it's available - i live in australia. it's incredible. it's originally for putting onto things like rashes, burns, chafing, cuts, cracked skin, splinters, insect bites, open wounds so it's really really soothing and so good for your lips. but of course zevang is right you have to keep hydrated. :)

This seems like a good thread to ask a question I've had for awhile. Has Anyone use the "Chop Saver" lip balm? Thoughts?

I used it before and it was ok. I use another one now simply because I ran out .....

Yep. Tried it but I thought it was a bit pricey and it doesn't seem any better or worse than other lip balms out there that you can get at a local pharmacy.
