wrist brace

Post by infraRed »

I love learning the flute, but I have some wrist pain issues, because I'm also a computer programmer and I spend most of my day typing and moving a mouse. I try to use proper arm and wrist posture, but I was also hoping to get some kind of wrist braces for use at least during practice. Would anyone have any recommendations from personal experience? I see a few wrist braces listed on Amazon.com, but I'm not sure whether or not they are really suited for use with the flute or would really help. My hands are about average size male hands. During practice, the right wrist is the first one to get sore.

I've definitely been there. See a doctor about it and see about getting medical grade wrist braces. Owning a set myself (one for the left and one for the right that immobilizes the thumb) they're worth the hassle.
