Auditions

Post by Claiken »

What are they looking for, as far as flute players?

Knowing that perfection is impossible for anyone, what do they look for? if perfect is 100% what is the best way to score like 99% on an audition? BESIDES practise. i know that. but like, are they looking for rhythm? breathing?

i know they look for tone, and technique, but what aspects specifically? does anyone know?

::sigh::

okay.

Judges typically look for the following:

Technical aspects:

Steady tempo
Accurate Rythm
Crisp, clear tone
accurate articulation
Clear articulation.
Dynamics
Silent breaths

Musical aspects:

Various tone colors
Varied vibrato
phrasing
appropriately placed breath marks
overall expression
The musical decisions must make sense.
