I find I get C#4 with:

......G#
o x x |x o o| add B gizmo
add the LH G# but works without

i.e. do a high C but lift LH 1 (your pointing finger on left hand)

This works for a Yamaha 674 with split E and B gizmo.

which mentions that same C# fingering as being flat, but I am (on a good day) able to humor it upwards to make it true.

I can get high C and C# consistently and usually pretty in tune, but that's as far as I can do. None of the rest come out!

Usually I'd tweak my third and fourth octave by adjusting my stopper position. I find that the most tempermental note is really Eb4. C#4 is easily humoured using alternate fingerings, but not Eb4!

I surprised my teacher in high school with these. I just came into a lesson and played all the way up to the F#. She was flabbergasted. Here I was, 17 years old with only 2 months of lessons under my belt, and she was 30 with 2 prestigious degrees and she could only get up to the Eb.

These are freaky notes though, so don't feel bad if you can't play them. Keep working, and you'll get them if you can't right now.

Yeah I impressed one of my teachers once too, long time back, while I was still a junior member of the band. "There aren't that many flautists in Singapore who know that the flute can go so high," he said. But I tweak mine so much that my F# is flattened down to an F. Sometimes I wish I could just hit that F# without sacrificing every other note on the flute. The F4 fingering provided on LarryKrantz more or less produces an E4 for my set up. Mechanically actuated moveable stoppers, anybody?

The important things to note are: 1) have a right fingering (you can trail and error, but charts are helpful), 2) be sure to roll out sufficiently, 3) DO NOT SQUEEZE THE EMBOUCHURE, 4) HIT IT HARD. VERY HARD. 5) Bit by bit, reduce the volume. It can get pretty soft, albeit rather airy. 6) Get earplugs.

It's also about dropping your jaw low enough and having a large enough aperture. Think HUGE.
