intervals

I cannot consistently play from c# to e in the 2nd octave sometimes it fine but other times the e sounds an octave lower just for half a second I am playing a piece which is full of this interval I can play all the big jumps up to 3rd register no problem but this one interval is driving me nuts anyone help????
