Use keyboard amp for amplifying flute?

Post by CGL »

I have a Roland Cube 40 amp for keyboard that I bought used to amplify my flute, and I'm using an Audix microphone. I'm not getting much volume out of the amp unless I turn it up to between 8 and 10. I think it's a 40 watt amp, so is it just not enough? Having to crank it up that high doesn't give me much room to adjust the volume. A friend suggested an impedance converter might help. Any suggestions?

It will work fine! Have done that many times over the years. If you are having problems with the mic volume, then either buy a small mixer or a preamp.

Thanks, Phineas! I'll check out a mixer or preamp.
