Sight Reading

Post by Kim »

When you are working on sight reading do you use a number
of things such as songs, etudes and exercises? How often do you buy new music so
that you can work on sight reading? It seems that our stack of music is forever
growing so that we have new music to work on. When you buy new music, do you buy
exercise or method books or do you just stick to songs? Kim

I buy method books but I also buy books such as 36
repetoirs for flute and piano and rubank concert and contest so I will have
knowledge of various songs. I use rubank method books, I'm finishing the last
book of the series(rubank advanced volume II) I'm not a big fan of just buying
one page of sheet music. I don;t know why

When I get books, I don't have to worry about my papers getting misplaced. When
I buy sheet music, though, I get sheet protectors and put the music in my "music
binder". It works quite well.

think we are going to have to give that a try :) Kim
