Tico Tico Tonguing

Post by LaMusique »

I must play a piece called Tico Tico for an upcoming
exam next month, and the tonguing is causing me some problems. The trouble is, I
just can''t keep up. I start off fine....then I go slightly ''breath-y''
but nothing that can''t be fixed.....and then, all of a sudden it''s
impossible to keep up and before i know it I''m four bars behind! I have a
copy of a proffessional playing the piece, and I ''follow'' it. I put my
flute to my mouth, and tongue it, i just don''t actually play the notes. and i
get all the way through no problems. Its just when i actually play the notes, my
threshold for keeping up is.......not good.... Any tips? Anything?? Please? Am
most worried.......is next month.... [:blackeye:] Becky x

Are you double-tounging? I think this would help.
What is the time signature? Are there triplets? Mabye you should be double or
even triple tounging this. Also PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! This is what people
say when their fingers and toungue aren't moving at the same time as their
brain. Start slow enough that you get every single note then speed it up with a
metronome. Also practice this song everyday because when you get it up to speed
it needs maintnance to stay to that speed. Once you get it to the right speed
practice it at that speed all the way through (mabye a few times with the CD and
a few times without) so that your ready for your test. Post with those answers
and I'll try to help more, if you have any questins just ask.
