Is the piccolo played the same as the flute?

Post by @Danix »

Well what the title says. I wanted to know if the piccolo is played the same as the flute. I have read that the fingering is the same, but I have not found anything about the embouchure. Is it the same or not?
Thanks in advance.

Yes and no. The basic fingering is the same, but there are a number of preferred fingerings that are different than flute. For the lips, they are similar but on the piccolo, the embouchure is much smaller than on flute.
