Need Advice on writing fast passages

Post by fitch »

Hi Guys,

Got a quick question for players.

I'm preparing a orchestral piece for performance and need some advice on the flute parts.

Would a 2 octave major scale run starting on high A down to low A be possible in the space of one beat at Crotchet = 70?? (last A is actually beat 2 so its actually 14 notes in 1 beat) and also in reverse (Its FL1 coming down then FL2 going up)

Its for a semi pro orchestra mainly teachers.

I havent got access to the players until later on in the year and trying to get it right before I see them.

Cheers

(Also if anyone knows about clarinets, an E major scale, starting on the E above middle C to top E at same speed as above?? ;)

Yes, it's possible....They may find it tricky, but it's definitely possible. I can't speak for the clarinets though.

Thanks for that - I havent played my flute in such a long time I wasnt sure if it was possible ( I can sort of do it but its a bit "screechy" rather than the smooth gliss like run that I'm hearing in my head)

I'd better hope they are good players :D

Cheers

Yes, it will probably be slightly troublesome to them, but if it's just a straight A Major scale, they shouldn't have too much trouble with it. Best of luck to you!
