Private Lessons....
I'm sixteen and a high school junior and i've only had private lessons when i've gone to appalachain's summer thingie for high school kids and i have my first lesson with Mark Thomas in a few weeks and he mailed my parents some stuff and told them that i need to prepare some music for him to assess (sp?) my level.
any suggestions?? because, like, i have no clue.
thanks! <3 <3

I agree. When a student comes to me for an initial "audition", I am simply wanting to know what I have to work with. I like for new students to play something that they are comfortable with and that shows what they feel are their better qualities. This tends to take a great deal of pressure off for both of us. It also allows me to listen to the students play with their own skill level and tone quality. I also find it helpful to know what a student likes to play and feels comfortable with for various reasons.
Just play something that you have been working on and feel good about. Most likely, he just wants to know your potential.
