I think there's already a thread started
about the Chaminade Concertino, but I'll just reply here anyway. I know what
note you are talking about! I think it's actually a C#. My recollection is that
there is a bit of a D major scale, but it goes down to the C#. I had the hardest
time with it! It occured to me, that since I practiced scales from tonic to
tonic, I had never practiced playing that note with my scales. From then on I
started practicing scales starting on the tonic, going up to the highest note,
then down to the lowest, then back up to the tonic I started on. This way, you
can train your fingers over the whole range of the flute in every key.. This
piece in particular is very scales based, so I would say scale practice is the
thing work out. The Chaminade is a nice piece, and also a bit difficult. I never
could have played it at all at your age! I'm sure you must be quite a good
flutist! I do think it's good to work on hard pieces though, it helps motivate
you and it's enjoyable to practice. You may not work it up to permformance
readiness the first time, but you'll get better every time you come back to it.
What other pieces do you like?
