Armstrong ARM 3 headjoint

Post by hs_hopeful »

Can anyone tell me if the cut of this headjoint has an "equivalent" among any of the more recent styles of Armstrong headjoints? I just know it is sterling, not thin wall, and definitely produces a different tone than any of my other Armstrong headjoints. Unfortunately, it will fit my 80BE, but not my Heritage.

If you just want it for your Heritage, you can take both headjoint and Heritage to a good instrument repairman and have him/her resize it to fit. Of course, then it won't fit your 80.

A make-do option for if it's too small, you can wrap a piece of paper around the joint to help it fit.

Any headjoints I have that don't fit the Heritage are too large, but since they fit the 80BE, I won't bother with having them resized. I would still love to know how ARM3 corresponds to the current system of letters annd numbers, and even tried calling Conn-Selmer, but they were useless.
