Hello all:
I’m considering the Miyazawa 202 with heavy wall. I haven’t played one yet. I did trial a Miyazawa 102 with standard wall and M-10 headjoint. I loved the mechanism and sound over others that I tried. I’m hoping the 202 will be all that and more.
Others I’ve played so far:
Azumi AZ3
Di Zhao 700
Trevor James Voce Virtuoso
Yamaha 677
I was favoring the Di Zhao (features and price) until I heard how much better I sounded on the Miyazawa.
Two questions:
For those who have played the Standard Wall and Heavy Wall on the Miyazawa 202, what did you think?
What headjoint do you prefer for the Miyazawa 202? The website has 4-5 choices all the same price. They say most people have the M-10. I will try to play all of them if I can.

I’ve narrowed my search to a Miyazawa 202. I have a standard wall model on trial right now with the Mx-10 and Mz-1 head joints. I have a heavy wall model coming next week with an Mz-2 head joint. Of course, I love them both.
My lesson with my teacher is next week and she will help me discern further. In the meantime, I’m hoping to hear some feedback from those of you who haved played all three head joints.
I like playing mostly Baroque period music and all around church music. I’m having a hard time figuring out which head joint best complements those kinds of music.

I’m curious to hear your comparison of the heavy vs standard wall.
I would imagine the standard wall is the most popular and common (thus “standard”) though one shop I spoke to said they mostly sell heavy walled Miyazawas.

The 202 with heavy wall with Mx-1 head joint should be coming Friday or Monday. I can't wait 
On the head joint, I incorrectly indicated in my earlier post that I have the Mx-1 as well as the Mz-10. I have the Mx-2. Between the Mx-2 and the Mz-10 both my teacher and I prefer the Mx-2.
The next (and final) decision is standard versus heavy wall AND Mx-1 versus Mx-2. I'm thankful to be working with a distributor who can let me trial all the available choices in the 202.
Like many novices, I was having a hard time believing a plated flute like the Miyazawa 202 could equal or surpass solid silver flutes in the same range. Feeling and hearing the difference made me a believer.

The heavy wall 202 arrived yesterday along with an MX-1 and MX-2 head joint.
I really like the MX-2 for the 202 standard wall. In fact, I really like the standard wall a lot. I need to spend the weekend playing the heavy wall. I will meet with my instructor and Monday and decide. Then one goes back and the other gets a forever home.

I tried the standard wall 202 with MZ-10 headjoint. Although it played very easily, for me, it sounded like a bamboo flute - too thin. I tried the heavy wall 202 with the Mz-10 headjoint (heavy wall headjoint and body) and it sounded great with lots of depth and color. No wonder most new Miyazawa 202's sold are heavy wall.
