Flute Attire

Post by flutekay »

I have my first big gig in October. My husband noticed that traditionally flautist generally
do not wear dresses above the knee. Is this true regardless of the style of music performed?
I am performing at a nightclub. Does that change the rules on dress for a flautist? I normally
perform at my church so attire has never been an issue.

I am guessing there is no right or wrong answer in this day and age.
Formal dress code will apply in formal orchestras or depending on your audience eg White House recital or formal/private cocktail parties etc
But I guess for everything else, it is dress to suit the ocassion and audience. Black is usually stunning.

Our friend Jasmine Choi would be a good bet to get an idea or two from. Let's see what she wears in all 58 videos =D
