First of all congrats for getting such a prestigious position. They seemed to favor male brass and percussion players when I was in school. Which band are you drummajor for?

Most embarassing moment for me...falling into the mud before UIL State competition and ruining my uniform. I ended up wearing a marching uniform of an alternate. :P

i have nvr been drum major but i might try out this year..lol but i have an embarressing moment on each of my current drum majors.

first, the senior drum major on our senior night (it is this big ceremony thing for band and football and stuff) called the band to attention and her voice cracked horribly in front our supporters and parents. it must have been embarressing but we couldn't help but snicker when she put us at ease.

second, the junior drum major during half time at one of the games this year, was running from back field to front field to conduct and slipped and fell right in the middle of our show..he nvr fully recovered until the next song. it was a flaw but we all couldn't help but rewinding that part in the video over and over.

I am the drummajor for the Tarkington Highschool Thundering Horns Band. It is in Cleveland, Texas. I advise anyone who is or wants to try out to take that oppurtunity to do so. Although it is a difficult position and so much relys on you it is pretty awesome. Just being able to listen to the whole band in general on a competition or a friday night game is, to me, such a great pleasure. I have absolutely enjoyed this experience. Actually being in this position has broaden my thoughts on what I want to pursue when I graduate this year.

My most embarrassing experience: Actually I have two that really stand out to me.

At our band's first competition, the other drum major and me were running to switch podiums and collided right into each other. To us it was the most horrible thing that could happen. Well our directors had recorded it and showed to the whole band. It looked like we were dancing. I still havent heard the end of that one from the director. We just told everyone that we were giving each other a high five when we were passing each other. Even worse, the band had started the song with out me on the podium. I was extremely irritated that day!!! :x

The other one:
At our big UIL region competition(area tryouts) I was running down the head podium to switch. Well my guiders weren't there to help me down and the time was running out so I had to rush and not pay attention to the steps. Well I totally skipped the last one and fell. They caught that one one tape too. We made it to area anyway.

I also had asked what the best an worst times of being a drum major was too. I never exclaimed what mine was.

Best- The time of being a drum major was when we were at our first competition. After what had happened to me and the other drum major during the middle of the show, at the end, we had found out that we had made straight one's and had gotten most outstanding band (even with the little mishap). Just the sheer excitement on the band's faces was heart taking.

Wort- There is really never a worst time. Each little episode was more of a learning experience, rather than a bad memory.
