depends upon what you are looking for.. they can bekdell wrote:u guys r lucky...i wanted 2 get an alto sax SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO badly 4 x-mas...or @ least a new flute b/c mine is INCREDIBLY CRAPPY, but i got neither. oh well...do any of u guys know how much sax's can cost? r they lots of $?!? i hope not...
quite pricey.
Your best bet on affordability is going to be a rebuilt older model.
King, Martin, Armstrong all put out a decent alto in years past.
Sometimes Conn is good, depends upon where and when it was made.
Bundy is a fairly solid horn as well.
for used horns, that play, you will run into anything from 300 to 800 dollars,
unless you start getting into the serious horns..
At which point it goes up considerably.
I expect my son's next horn to run me 3500 or so IF I am lucky.
But he's going to be headed to college and beyond with it sooo....
mark
So many instruments.... so little time.... :)

Re: CHRISTMAS OF STUFF!
well i got these white socks with sheet music printed on them..[nerdy but neat], cleaning supplies[polishing cloth, cork grease], a metronome/tuner/toner, a flute player for my nightstand(she is really pretty), a music staff with curly music on it to hang on my wall(hard to explain), fifty dollars to spend at the music store, the casanova soundtrack and things upon other things flute related..it was the band nerdy-est of all christmases. but i loved it(:squints wrote:I recived a ton of flute type gifts for Christmas and my bday. Whoa..... cool! I dont know if I would personally get much use out of something like that, but it would still be something really neat to have.

I know! It's utterly insane, but I'll give them all a listen eventually...Still, it's at least 200 hours worth of music, so it'll take some time to get through everything. It was a great present though...I just started laughing once I realized what it was!fluteguy18 wrote:flutepicc06 wrote:I didn't get anything specifically flute related, but I did get one thing that is both absolutely ridiculous and really cool (at least to a huge music person like me).
