Me, I''d have a Gold
Muramatsu, engraved lip plate and body, heavy wall headjoint, E mech, C# trill
key and D# roller! What more could a gal want?! I plan on buying one if I get
into the Queensland Conservatorim of Music and graduate well! I''d get a 9kt
gold one, even though I haven''t played a gold flute, 14kt gold has more gold
content and I would still like some other characteristic too! [8)]

Great choice! Took class from a
teacher with a silver Muramatsu, it is a beautiful instrument. Have heard plus
and minus to Gold, another teacher locally has Gold, wood and Silver and
performs different pieces with different flutes. I guess that would be the dream
situation. A nice Mateki, Haynes, Burkat-Phelan, Powell, Brannen Bros, even a
Yamaha 800 or 900. That would be one heck of a shopping experience. [:p] If you
pin me down without testing em all, I probably head to Boston and be fit for a
Haynes. Maybe just some nice gold trim.[]

Since this question has come up,
I feel like I must do an advertisement of my flute!! [:)] A few years ago, I had
the opportunity of getting any flute around the 10K price range, and travelled
to Boston to check out Brannen, Powell, Haynes, and Nagahara. After spending
hours at Brannen, and an afternoon at Haynes and Powell, my last day I stopped
by a much more intimate environment at Nagahara. After being there for 15
minutes, I knew that flute was the one for me!!! I debated on spending a little
more and buying a 10K gold flute (and had many people play it and say that it
was one of the best instruments they had ever played), but was told to have a
quality silver flute before a gold one. So, I now have a Nagahara 950 Flute, and
it is BEAUTIFUL!! I can't say enough positive things or how happy I am with the
flute and the customer service. I hope one day to be playing on one of their
gold flutes!!! www.nagaharaflutes.com

WOW! U must have been thrilled
with the idea of having 10k to spend. I can see why you debated on spending a
bit more though, considering it will be the instrument you will most likely have
for the rest of your life. I'm in Australia so I won't get a chance to go to
difference places to try out so I'll have to get them shipped from suppliers in
Australia to try them. I worked out last night that my dream flute would cost
AUD$27k! Lucky I only want a small second hand car, hehe! I'm gonna save until
I get enough for my flute, I'd rather wait and get the best flute I can than
just going and getting one cause its a bit cheaper! Bye! [8)]

Tara, In case you're ever
interested, there is a dealer of Nagahara Flutes out in Australia at a place
called WorldWind. Best of luck though finding the flute of your dreams

Ah yes, I've heard of
WorldWind. They're part of the Woodwind group, Australia, but unfortunately
their site is down, anyway I'm sure they'll have something by the time I go to
buy a new flute, probably in another 5 years! I hadn't heard of Nagahara flutes
before you mentioned them a month or so ago, and since them I've been hearing
about them, shows how much you notice things! What features does your flute
have, you've spoken about it a fair bit, I'd love to hear what its like, and
if you add the model name I can see pictures of it! bye! [8)]
