He's not bad, but he's not fantastic either. Flight of the Bumblebee really isn't a particularly difficult piece (the vast majority of it is just chromatic runs). He didn't really do anything musically that just made it jump out as a extraordinary performance. There are some excellent flute videos on youtube, but I'm not sure I would rank that particular one too high.

Some of my personal favorites from a non-pro come from a guy that uses the name "Flutemark" on the Galway list (not sure if he uses the same moniker on youtube), but there are also some great videos of Rampal, Galway, etc. out there on youtube. They're not terribly hard to find.

I will have to agree with flutepicc06. Most of the song IS just chromatic runs. Our flute choir is playing it this year and I must say it is an interesting song to listen to though. Also, his breathing we very noticeable and it seemed to take a lot away from the song itself. Thanks for the webpage!

Ok hes technically very good, but flight of the bumblebee isnt that hard, just the chromatic runs and this is one of the least musical versions of it Ive ever heard, the breaths just ruin the flow of the music completely!

There is some great stuff from Emmanual Pahud, Galway, Varelas.

I really love that video. You think "jeeze, twinkle twinkle little star? thats for little kids". However, he makes it really cool.

Nope...That's all Greg Patillo...No backing track. Pretty amazing, huh? He has 5 videos on youtube like that.

Oh, and welcome to the board!
