I can't of course speak for the work which was done on your flute. I would advise you however to choose your words carefully when speaking about professional people and establishments who work hard to gain a good reputation for their services.
I am not saying that sub-standard work was not carried out on your flute, but I will say I have never heard a bad word myself until now about Andrew Oxley (a fine flute and headjoint maker himself) or Top Wind.
Personally I send my flute to Ian McLauchlan at Just Flutes and always get my flute back in pristine condition.

I said this because I know how hard these people work to establish a client base, and because I know that a couple of ill-chosen negative remarks can cause a lot of disproportionate damage to a decent business's reputation.Buttercup wrote: I would advise you however to choose your words carefully when speaking about professional people and establishments who work hard to gain a good reputation for their services.
The fact that you got a letter of apology from Top Wind should be penance enough for the damage done to your flute, without then posting derogatory comments on an internet forum.
I posted my opinions of Mr Oxley and Top Wind so that people who have no experience of either would not have a biased picture of their services.
Anyone interested in Ian McLauchlan's services at Just Flutes should visit justflutes.com and see the link there directing you to his workshop's website, where you will find details of services and prices.

Posting a comment here is really no different than negative word-of-mouth (as per the old days). The medium has merely changed, but the content and effect have not. It's important for consumers to be made aware of the possibility of sub-par products/services so that they can decide whether to use them in an informed manner. Parts of Liberace's original post could have been phrased more delicately, but there's really nothing wrong with the basic intent of the message, and when it comes down to it, (s)he was just providing necessary background for the question (s)he needed/wanted answered.
