huge problem No sound, vocal "timidence"

Post by nasxxx »

I need some help badley, have recently picked up a really bad and very frustrating habbit, kinda like trying to talk but nothing comming out, with my flute playing. I have to take a deap breath or several or even start of with a 'B' or 'G' before I can start to play anything. I'm very annoyed with myself more frustrated than anything else. Don't know where I have picked this bad habbit up from but I need some help on how to become more confident with my playing. Hard to explain as if my throat is closed but I have ample amount of air to sound but not able to produce any notes unless several breaths before hand. Kinda feel like a newb with this any suggestions or breathing techniques I can use to help me over come this.

Do you mean that you can't get the flute to produce sound without some prep breaths, or that you can't manage to use your air properly without them? Obviously the best way to solve this is to consult a teacher. It's nearly impossible for us to get a full understanding of what's going on without being able to observe you and your playing.

Its kinda some prep breaths I would guess in that respect, I know I can hit the notes perfectly, but its a kind of stammer before the notes come out..... hard to explain. I'm teaching myself, no teacher as I cannot afford one. Kinda  as if you want to say something but no sound comming out................ Very frustrating even thou you know its easy to do but as if something has become crossed and..................
