Well nopt really we
have to do lot's of fundraisers and we still have to play like 75$ a kid. The
trip is sapposed to cost around $4500 so we have to do lots of foundraisers[:((]
[] [:0] [8)] but its really worth it. g2g[:)]

My daughter's band
is lucky just to get another area school to let them use their auditorium so
they don't have to play their concerts in the cafeteria.[:((] [:((][:blackeye:]

We mostly do our conserts in the gym or are last concert of the year was played
at the Granada which has a stage thats very tiny so we where really crambed I
mean the stage was like 10FT by 20FT. So I has hitting the person next to me
with the end of my flute or I was hitting the person behind me with the end of

Fortunately
most(all?) of the local high schools including FluteJenn's have nice
auditoriums. So my daughter's band usually gets to use one of them once or
twice a year for a concert for the parents which is well attended. They are
lucky enough to have a band room for class.

really, my band has a
band room (but it only fits a third of the people in band:650), and they collect
60-90 dollars per person, but it is optional, so we have a lot of fundraising to
do...[::)]

It is amazing that
you have 650 at one time. Can't imagine you can conduct that many or hear what
is going on. You can't have 650 players of equal ability . Why not split into
levels? How many flutes? 25? 30? Well at least you get to travel.

So you are up in New
Port Richey area north of Tampa? Neat. Do you have state band try outs soon or
are you too busy with marching band? There are some other Florida posters on
here.

Our band is called
Pine Rivers High Concert Band. We also have a Stage Band, Wind Ensemble,
Percussion Ensemble and apparently we have a Jazz Ensemble but I've never heard
much of it, plus a String Ensemble. I'm first chair in the Concert Band, the
highest one, and I'm stoked about that cause I practice heaps and work really
hard. We go on tour every second year, sometimes to a different Australian
state, sometimes just North Queensland. We went to Canberra last year, it was
fun! And we're going to North Queensland next year. Even though it's not as
bigger trip as Canberra, I'll be first chair so it will be a better playing
experience. We do lots of fundraisers. Sausage sizzles, we always work the
canteen at school events and have chamber concerts with cheese and wine with a
gold coin donation. We have 2 music rooms plus 3 (supposedly) sound proof rooms,
a school hall (like a community hall that is hired out to others too) and an
auditorium. I think our set up isn't too bad but as long as I get to play, I'm
not worried [8)]

We go to a certain
area (eg. Canberra) and play at different schools and places. Also, we don't
have auditions for places or anything, our teacher just sits us there, and
earlier on this year I moved to first because our section leader didn't do a
real lot, still doesn't actually, lol. Our section leader has to be in grade
11, as annoying as that is we have to put up with it, but I'm first and I
basically just play all the solos, except maybe one or too, and also when others
do sometimes play the solos, when it comes time to perform, they get all nervous
and ditch them on to me as well, so I just basically learn them too.
