Sarah Palin...."flutist"?
In light of recent events, this video has surfaced on youtube. I have to say, this is just my humble opinion of course, if that "song" had been any longer I think my ears would have literally started to bleed profusely. But i'll let you all be the judge. I just love how they announce her as an "accomplished flute player". Here you go.....please enjoy. But i'll put up a disclaimer for those of us with sensitive ears....it's really hard to take! LOL

It's pretty bad.
But what I want to know is how many times has she played in front of an audience at that point in her life.
I am just an amature, and I know that when I even try to play in my own home in front of a camera, my intonation just goes everywhere.
I would love to play the flute for an audience someday.
I joined a wind ensamble, but they need percussionist and they found out that I used to play percussion about 20 years ago. So I am stuck doing that at this time until they can find percussion players.
I am so bummed.

I first heard her playing in background while I was doing something else, and thought to myself, "what is that wretched sound?" And with that awful Yanni-esque accompaniment?
Palin's playing seems to match up well with her lackluster, shallow, political persona. I gather the same people who love this "hockey mom" also liked what is described as flute playing.
Awful. Just awful. But not surprising to me, coming from someone who can't name a single one of the "vast" number of newspapers that she supposedly reads. I certainly wouldn't expect she would make any semblance of a musical statement considering her inability to put a coherent sentence of words together with Couric. Palin gives new meaning to the word "mediocre". If I were female, I would be incredibly embarassed that out of all the great Republican woman leaders this country has, this one is the best they could come up with. Sad, just sad.
Just my opinion.

Thank you.musical_Kat wrote:Owen, fluteguy made a good point. Just leave it alone and please try to stop knitpicking. I am not a fan of Sarah Palin...that being said...I wasn't intending this thread to become any sort of political debate. Really, I just was so horrified by this performance that I had to post it. Let's try to drop all the animosity.
palin/flute
It was interesting that the back up band carried most of the weight and in the difficult passages she could almost not be heard. After a several years of playing I am as frustrated with intonation and how to achieve it but I sure wouldn't parade mine intonation in public. she has moxie at least or is that lack of pride???
