holy crap! i played the exact same thing you did! Prokofiev, bach b minor and orchestral excerpts
I know Alexa Still turned the flute program at CU Boulder into a world-class Flute Program.
Do you happen to know Pam Endsley? I wanna go to Lamont (at University of Denver,) but I don't know if she's a very good teacher yet.. do you happen to know her ?
BTW, who is your teacher in California? I used to live in California, and my teacher was Gary Woodward.
Hahah wow! I just adore that piece! What movement did you play? I played the first...I don't know how my high D's came out that good! haha I played Eflat Bach. What excerpts did you play? I played Beethoven Leonore and William Tell. I do not know anything about Pam Endsley. Maybe try creating a new thread about her. I love in Northern California and I used to take from Mat Krejci and now I take from Macki Kupper. Oh just curious..what kind of flute do you play?
i also played the first movement of prokofiev! LOL! and Beethoven Leonore! crazy.. she stopped me before the high D's.. I am not familiar with those teachers but do you ever go to the nor cal flute camp bc gary teaches there and also I met someone named marley eder who went there for 4 years at that camp. jw
well, since i was auditioning for like 9 months, i need a break, so i'm working on relaxing, releasing tension in my body, esp. fingers, hands, shoulders, etc. but I am still working on music... lol I am currently working on Prokofiev 3rd movement, Telemann Fantasy in d minor, and Debussy Syrinx even though I played it with a previous teacher because he told me "I just can't let you leave my studio without me teaching you Debussy Syrinx.. It is such an important work"
But, I want to get rollin' again in the fall with serious repertoire. I'm looking at Nielsen or Ibert, more technically challenging orc excerpts like the one youre doing (carnival of the animals and william tell) and maybe others? like peter and the wolf, firebird (i hope! haha) and i hope to extend on my baroque repertoire
let me what your plans are i think my biggest problem was i am actually a transfer student so there are hardly any slots for those positions, if you know what i mean? Since I will be in Denver and you will be in Boulder I'm sure we will get to know each other eventually over the course of four years
Wow why were you auditioning for that long? I have played Syrinx and Ibert and both are wonderful. I am playing the Muczynski, carnival of the animals, ibert piece, and other orchestral pieces. I just played Peter and the wolf and wow was that FUN! I plan to attend Boulder and see how it is. I had my heart on Northwestern and Mr. Kujala really seemed to like me so I may transfer but I don't know. I do hope we can play a duet together
the teacher is Pam Endsley The school is the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music I got a 28K per year scholarship to go there, which is exciting I am planning on mailing my scholarship signature form there tomorrow AM.
