What do you think about Armstrong flutes?

Post by lotr_rox »

Hi, i have an older, (around
15 yrs) Armstrong flute and i was wondering if i should invest in a new one, (oh
ya, this was given to me 6mos ago.) I think it plays fine, but I might not be
the best judge, being that I''v never had another, so any advice on this one??
Thanx-Jess:)[:)]

The only way to judge your
flute with others to see if it has a good sound is to play others. Go to a music
shop, take your flute. Try a lot of different flutes and play yours then
compare. See what you're comfortable with and what sound u like. Thats the only
advice I can really give you :)

they're fine if you're a
beginner. but for anything more than that...id go with a Gemeinhardt, Yamaha, or
Muramatsu. and it depends on its condition i dont really like them. but thats my
opinion. you have to find one that you "click" with, and if its an Armstrong,
then its an Armstrong

Well just to add a bit more
to this scenario, I honestly don't like Gemeinhardts, lol. I have a student
Yamaha as well as my Trevor James flute (which is gorgeous, had to add that) and
I really like the Yamaha. It's a well made flute that has served me for over 5
years without any problems. Though when I went to get an intermediate/semi-pro
flute I found I like Trevor James over Yamaha in that level. I wish I had got to
try some more flutes but I can always do that when I get a pro flute :)
