A very happy flutist and question

Post by elanor_g »

This past sunday I became the owner of a Trevor James TJ10X flute, the grin on my face was huge :D I've got it on a rent to buy scheme, paying £22 per month. I'm going to be getting lessons because my tone is terrible, but thats from not playing in ages.

Can anyone suggest a tutor book with CD? I need something to work throughbefore I start lessons.

Thanks

I first began the flute using the Accent on Achievement series beginning with book one. They were very helpful in aiding me learn the fingerings and basic theory. Then I switched to the Rubank series while playing some Gariboldi etudes, the easiest ones. The method books will get you started on the flute, but there really is no substitute for a private teacher. If you decide you really love the flute, then I strongly suggest that you find a private teacher by the time you've been playing for a year or so, if not sooner. Hope that helps!
