What's your favorite recording of the Bach A minor partita?

Post by jlebar »

No two flutists play the Bach A minor partita (BWV 1013) the same. So I'm curious: What's your favorite recording?

I'm partial to Marc Hantaï's recording (on Baroque flute), but I only have four to choose from. :)

I'm not to sure what song you are talking about - of if I'm alluding to
these songs - but I enjoy this played on flute:

J.S. Bach - Partita in A minor - 111. Sarabande

Well, it's all one piece, so I was referring to it as a unit. But if you have a favorite recording of one specific movement, I'd be curious to hear about that too.

I really like Sharon Bezaly's interpretation of the Partita. She's fantastic.
Alexandra Grot also does a really good performance on Youtube of it, I'm not sure if she's recorded it for an album yet.

and Marc Hantai's version sounds lovely too, the Baroque flute is so beautiful!!!

I just listened to Sharon Bezaly's recording -- it's lovely! Thanks a lot for the recommendation.
